What Your Child Should Learn About Gun Safety
By admin | September 18, 2011
Every child should learn that guns are a great hobby but one that must be handled with upmost respect and safety. A child should learn that they should never handle a gun unless they have permission from their parents or whoever the owner of the gun maybe. Before they are allowed to handle any kind of gun the child should be given a demonstration of the safety feature, handling techniques, and unloading of each gun they handle. Knowing these items allow the child to properly check the gun or weapon for handling, storage, or cleaning.I was looking for more information and found it here.
Before approaching any gun a child should always assume that the gun is loaded and dangerous. Approaching any firearm in this manner puts the handler in a position to prevent accidental discharges. While handling any gun the safety should be on and the unloaded, checking the chamber to make sure it is completely unloaded. Where a gun barrel is being pointed at is always of great importance. A barrel should always be pointed downward towards the ground and away from any target that is not ment to be shot at. Following these simple thoughts and procedures can greatly reduce the risks of injury from firearms.
